Art Gallery Press Release Example

I worked for several months as an intern at an amazing new gallery in the Yerba Buena District of San Francisco. This is a press release I drafted for them:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

12 Gallagher Lane announces Visiting Artist’s international debut: [xxxxx] at [xxxxxxxx]

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico-(January 2011)— 12 Gallagher Lane is pleased to announce the work of emerging Bay Area artist [xxxxx] will be featured at [xxxxxx] of the [xxxxx] in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico from (date) to (date).

[xxxxx] creates wooden panels stamped with what could be tar like paint and printed with abstract designs. Upon closer inspection, the different wood panels—with their unique grains, colors, and textures—are scarred with burns: what is left over when Jonah drips, ladles, presses, cools, and peels molten glass off their surfaces.

[xxxxxx]’s debut show, “Burning the Surface”, was featured in San Francisco, CA at 12 Gallagher Lane, a Hunt Slonem gallery, from September through December, 2010. Named by 7x7 Magazine in 2009 as “an artist to watch”, [xxxxx]’s work has been featured in California Home and Design Magazine, as well as JAL/Skyward Magazine.

[xxxxx] graduated with a BFA from California College of the Arts in Oakland, CA in 2006. He divides his time between quick-paced life in the Bay Area and his childhood home in the rural town of Foster Mountain, CA, where he works at his studio on his family’s farm in the red-dirt hills. Growing up surrounded by beautiful, undeveloped nature has rendered his work a continual dialogue involving man’s relationship with nature.

[xxxxxxx] will present an opening reception for the artist on [xxxxxxx]. Gallery hours are 10 to 4 Monday-Saturday.
